rusty...

ok. this blog is as rusty
as my banjo strings
its been an interesting time
feeling the cave and inhabiting it
buT
the 'guvment' gave me a new satellite dish
so now can blog to my hearts content
and catch up on all things
random...oh la la...
thanks nbn...
was good to drop out actually
of the hype, updates and endless drama
that seems to play itself out in cyburbia...
now i re-enter with a reserved demeaner
and less anxiety
realising that reality is far more exciting!!

Art has been as erratic as the weather
ebbing between moments of sunshine
and torrential downpours.
Mostly been writing my exegesis thingy
which is too wordy and messy
and nonsensical
perhaps it is no different to painting...(?)

however, between the gaps
horizons have appeared
making marks with Dorothy Caldwell
was like shaking off the dust
meeting old and new
coming back to the source of the scratch
got to make books and put holes in stuff
paint things burn and sew
am so grateful

catching up on ice...

ice heart freezes and melts, melts and freezes

been a little while between journeys
but this one was
beautiful
to see how water can play with itself
and create all wonderful forms of inextricable
simple and unparalleled beauty

i marvel....

what a true gift to behold
i love that place truly or perhaps this place
that is mother earth's playground
wherever my feet find themselves
it unfolds in always amazing ways

anyway thought i'd share some ice
as we enter easter and it unfreezes itself over there
releasing and bursting forth in new life
and here we prepare for winterness

heart is half frozen
half melting...

mon pays c'est l'hiver...

palettes are useful for not only holding and carrying and shipping
most of our food and goods around the globe...
palettes of the untreated kind can be recycled to make a very serviceable firewood
and furthermore...
while chopping them up you can play with them, reuse them
and paint on them!!
Above are some happy experiments on the humble palette,
amazingly we discovered all sorts of beautiful timbers, hardwoods and grains
so fun to paint and play with...
again...
the path is about reusing what is abundant..
at hand, and sustainable...
i like that.
and recycling. i like that...
oh and painting with just 3 shades
makes an enticing number of colours...

La grand citrouille

lately its all been about 'citrouille'...en anglais...pumpkin....
this giant (a.k.a jabba) was lifted, transported, floated, carved and finally....raced!!!
yes...a giant pumpkin boat race...the above photos showcase the tranquil setting
of the life of jabba pre-race, grown peacefully by the mountain
with the dulcet tones of nature and occasional banjo to aid in growth...

above you can see the logistics required to move and remove pumpkins from the water
(bearing in mind jabba was a 434pounds!)
and the space required in-situ...
it was a crazy and unique event
the above pirate is responsible for the growth, racing and
believe it or not is the eventual
VICTORIOUS champion for 2011... (in 11mins & 38seconds)
check the gold medal and wooden carved trophy!!!!
since then...
the news has spread far and wide, with reporters catching the story
and pictures appearing in many local rags...
all i can say is arrrrrrrrrrrrr..........
am proud of my little pumpkin
aRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr.........

walcha...

where the...is walcha?
outback west wild, windy and
full
of amazing public artworks!

a recent adventure
took us to this little town...
so inspiring to see an otherwise sleepy town
come alive with creation
and culture
discovered also
in the local gallery
was the paintings of Idris Murphy...

i discover...
i love this landscape
those who paint it
especially with sparkly silver paint
and carve it...
and
not least
 i love an
artist whose first initial is I.
