under the weather.....

hola worthy blog readers

does any one know of any artists who do or have ever made work about plant species???

Apologies to our northern hemisphere dwellers, this is really only for the area otherwise known as; java major, novae hollandae, new holland, australis, terra incognita, terra nullius or the like!! Some people might also say australia....

i am really trying to find wicked stuff....interesting and beyond botanical illustration....
we shall see.....hmmm

i have to quote guy maestri (above) in his visual language of the waratah....

this branch of research is taking me unexpected places and i feel a bit lost in the wilderness....

  1. Hi! I just came across your blog via India Flint's. Wanted to let you knoe that I saw a fantastic show, which has been touring the NT. I saw it in Alice Springs last year, and it is currently showing at the 'Museum for Economic Botany' in hte Adelaide Botanical gardens. Realy beautiful botanical-inspired art. You might know of it already if you are a Darwinite? Anyway, here is the link...http://www.abgf.org/events/special-events/replant-a-new-generation-of-botanical-art (Also, I'm assuming you know about John Woolsley's work?)

  4. And Fiona Hall also does amazing things with plants... Big sigh... Makes me want to quit my teaching job and just explore and make art. It may just happen one day!
I used to callmy flatmate Bingo, short for Benjamingo, which was long for Benjamin... Makes me smile...
