local art galleries.....

went

out to arnhem land the other week
heres some local art
and stuff
in no logical order of course
my backyard is big
awesome
ancient
amazing
and sometimes
art happens too.

  2. I especially like the 6th image-- with the rock with the circular indents-- I have smaller versions from a beach near by-- wish I could come and get THAT rock..

  3. it's an ancient ochre grinding site. the aboriginal people used to sit under there and grind pigments for rock paintings. But i reckon they also used to grind seeds/nuts for making into damperish type food stuffs.
    It IS amazing and in the middle of sacred country to be sure.

  4. Sounds spiritual to be there-- I like the reference to painting and pigment..
    I saw an exhibit of aboriginal paintings and works at the Seattle Art museum last year-- best stuff in the place... all those dots

  5. reckon....so much stuff here it is almost too many dots, get bored of it you know! Seem to crave contemporary non-indigenous art.
    Have you seen Emily Kngwarry's worx? She the best or Kitty Kentilla?
